• City speed limits are 50kph (around 30mph) with a few areas designated 70kph
• Open country speed limits are generally 100kph (about 60mph)
• At intersections, drivers turning left must give way to drivers turning right from the opposite direction
• When turning at traffic lights, drivers should give way to pedestrians using the crossing
• Drivers must carry with them a current New Zealand licence, or a current international or internationally approved drivers licence
