Can’t agree on what to have for lunch or dinner? Food courts are a great place to find the biggest and best selection of a variety of different foods from all over the world. Auckland is lucky enough to have a wide range of food courts and eateries spread throughout the city.

Food courts are perfect for a ready-made meal on the go, excellent for families with different tastes, and perfect for friends with different food preferences. Looking for the best food courts in central Auckland to get a quick easy meal? Take a look below for our top picks for Auckland’s best food courts.

Food Alley On Albert Street

The number one spot goes out to Food Alley, what it lacks in size it makes up for in its selection of classic Eastern style foods. Choose from a delicious range of Thai, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian, Malaysian, and Indian dishes from a range of vendors.

Try Miyaki Teriyaki for a casual Japanese lunch, head over to Go Believe for what some say is the best Dan Dan Noodles in Auckland, or grab a chicken, beef, lamb, or seafood Mee Goreng from Kampung Delights upstairs. If Korean comfort food is what you need head on over to Seoul Seoul some great Kimchi Pot Stew or some of the best vegetarian fried dumplings around.

Elliot Stables On Elliot Street

Dine-in style at Auckland’s best upmarket food court. Elliot Stables provides a great range of international food vendors including European, Japanese, Italian, French, Indian, Spanish and American. You can even make a booking at any of the Elliot Stables food court choices.

Grab a hearty steak meal from the team at Big Little Grill, some great Filipino-style noodles at Homecooked, (who also have a great range of gluten-free dishes), and try some traditional Japanese Sushi at Samurai SushiBesos Latinos is the place to be for traditional Latin American cuisine – give the Hibiscus Flower Tacos a go – you won’t be disappointed! Besos Latinos also has a good range of gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian options on the regular menu.

Atrium On Elliott … On Elliot Street

Centered in the hub of the Auckland’s entertainment and business center, the Atrium On Elliot is popular with inner-city workers and locals as it is with tourists and holidayers. Hungry visitors can choose from a wide array of food vendors including Cantonese and Peking cuisines, Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese, Indian, Vietnamese, Thai, Mediterranean, Japanese, and good old Kiwi bakery staples.

Get a coffee and pie on the go from the Hollywood Bakery, or for more of a meal hit The Bamboo Basket for Vietnamese-style salads, snacks, sticky rice, an impressive baguette menu, and homemade ice cream. For some of Auckland’s best handmade noodles, you can’t go past Yongs BBQ RestaurantVietnamese Delight is the place to be for some awesome deep-fried spring rolls.

Lim Chhour Food Hall On Karangahape Road

Thai, Japanese, Malaysian, Hong Kong Style Chinese, Indian and good old kiwi roast dinners are what to expect at the Lim Chhour Food Court. Head to Malaysian-influenced Chaiyo for some great vegan options, the best crispy pork around at Lee Hong BBQ, and be warned hot definitely means hot at the 100% Halal Ayutthaya Thai Food store. Excellent authentic sashimi and sushi can be found at Sushi Bar Salmon.

After a meal at one of the food stores at the Lim Chhour Food Hall stop by the Lim Chhour supermarket on your way out and stock up on those hard-to-find specialty Asian ingredients. Find the Lim Chhour supermarket at 184 Karangahape Road Newton, Auckland.

Mercury Plaza Food Court On Mercury Road

‘Merks’ as it’s known by its regulars may not be the flashiest food court around but if it's good food on the cheap you are looking for you won’t be disappointed. Look out for Maruten Ramen and try their Tonkotsu Ramen, grab some hot tofu soup at Koreaunts, or visit the team at E-sarn Wok for a great Thai Laksa and Mein Fun.

Although the Mercury Plaza Food Court’s days are numbered as it must make way for the new train station, it still remains a great hot spot for food on the go, oh and it pays to keep an eye out for the odd All Black while you are there!

Ponsonby Food Court On Ponsonby Road

Technically this one isn’t in the central city but it’s just too good to be left off the list! Enjoy an array of tasty Asian and European dishes right in the heart of Ponsonby on the corner of Ponsonby Road and Pollen Street, just a short ten-minute drive from the central city.

Expect to find Italian, Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, Indonesian, Malaysian, Indian, Chinese, and even authentic cuisine from Laos. The Ponsonby International Food Court is the ultimate destination for picky eaters as there is certainly something for everyone. Try the Steamed Whole Snapper or Sizzling Squid from Zap Lai Laos Food or Bella Verona for some delicious pasta dishes and desserts.
