The Gulf Harbour Country Club is a very scenic 45 minute drive from Auckland, located at 180 Gulf Harbour Drive, Gulf Harbour, Whangaparaoa. Or make an adventurous day out of it and take the ferry from downtown Auckland. At just over an hour the ferry trip adds a little something extra to the day and only costs around $15 per person.
Rounding off the top three is Muriwai Golf Links, built old-school style this champion golf course throws out a challenge to even the most seasoned golfers. Accessible all year round, the course is irrigated in the summer and dry under foot in the winter making it a popular choice for winter golfers.
This 18 hole championship golf course offers excellent coastal views in the traditional ‘links golf’ way along its undulating greens and sandy dunes. Quite substantially considered New Zealand’s best golf course, Tara Iti provides individuality and a challenge in a simply unique package. Well-designed fairways and greens are a delight for seasoned golfers, demanding skill and forethought as each of the 18 holes presents its own unique encounter.
The Tara Iti club operates on private member only admission but offers visitors entry on a one-off visit basis (why it sits a little lower on our list of top Auckland golf clubs).
